8. Light probe resolution
This is the documentation for Enlighten.
8. Light probe resolution
Enlighten automatically places light probes around actors that:
- are lit by probes
- have meshes
- have the mobility Static
- To see where the probes are, in the View Mode menu, choose Enlighten > Probes.
This shows the probes in the level.
The actors in this level use the default Enlighten probe resolution, which is sufficient for believable indirect lighting. - In the Outliner, double-click the actor Props_Balcony_6 to focus on it.
Because the fire escape is not directly lit by the sun, it is lit only by indirect lighting sampled from probes. To make this easier to see, select Lighting Only.
Enlighten > Probes Lighting Only Enlighten Indirect Lighting OFF Note that the lighting on the probes around the fire escape (in Enlighten > Probes view mode) matches the lighting on the fire escape. With Enlighten indirect lighting disabled, the area is completely in shadow. This shows that no direct sunlight reaches the fire escape.
